Some Resources For Online Entrepreneurs To Help Them Get Up And Going Fast

Some resources for online entrepreneurs to help you get up and going fast. From legal, to design, and development - these websites can shave weeks off your schedule and save you thousands of dollars. (I concentrated on Internet-based businesses for this post.)

FindLaw

Findlaw.com has a special section for small business. It is located at http://smallbusiness.findlaw.com/.
There are tips on everything from naming your businesses to business plans. They will also tell you the differences between a S-Corp and a LLC, if you need a refresher on the finer points of incorporating a small company.

BizBuySell

If you want to get going fast, you can buy an existing, operating online business at BizBuySell. Also, if you are ready to sell out of your small business, you can sell a small business here, too.

GotVMail

Get that big-company phone number for a small company price. They provide a 1–800 number and answering service.

LogoYes
A good looking logo can separate the serious business from the people that are just playing business. Customers pick up on professionalism. You need a great logo. Design and create your own logo online. LogoYes has on online interactive design studio to let you play around with designs until it is just right. If you are so inclined, this tool can help you build that perfect logo for your next enterprise. If you don’t want to do it yourself with LogoYes, and you are not artistically inclined, then see number 5.

Basecamp

Collaboration is crucial. Basecamp is a cost effective way to manage a dispersed group of entrepreneurs. Bootcamp facilitates project management online.

eLance
When you need some code written or any other jobs done for your startup, you can post the job to eLance. Freelancers will bid you your job. You can then select the best person for the price and get some work done.

Highrise

Keep track of who you talked to and what you said with this online CRM system. Organize your sales calls, or your contact with contractors. You can also do things like review each other’s notes, see follow-ups, and set reminders to contact clients later.

A Good Web Host
I recommend HostMySite, but there are many good hosts out there. The host and plan you need depends on what you need to build. If you think you will need a little more horsepower than a shared plan can provide, but don’t want to pay the price for a dedicated server quite yet, you can check out the newer VPS (Virtual Private Server) plans that give you some of the benefits of a dedicated server without the price of a dedicated server.

A Domain Name
There are many good sites to register your domain name. I recommend GoDaddy or Network Solutions. These companies both have control-panels that let you manage multiple domains. This gets useful when you end up managing several domain names.

Legal Zoom

LegalZoom lets you set up your corporation online for a relatively low cost. They can also file trademarks for you. This site can save you a bundle of money and time when you need to get the legal paperwork done.

Don't Worry And Share Your Any Business Idea At......

When aspiring entrepreneurs come to my office for help, many of them are very hesitant to share many details about what they are hoping to do.

“They are afraid to share any specific aspect of their business for fear that someone will steal their idea and beat them to the punch,” said Jeff Cornwall, director of the Belmont University Center for Entrepreneurship.

Just how real is this fear?

To attract potential financing, suppliers, employees and so forth, and to get help from advisers, the entrepreneur needs to become comfortable with sharing their idea.

Follow these five tips:

1. Always keep in mind that success comes from sound execution and implementation much more than the idea itself. Ideas can be a dime a dozen.

2. Entrepreneurs should always be prudent about whom they talk with about business.

3. When in doubt, have people sign a confidentiality or non-disclosure agreement.

4. Patents can help, too, but that’s never completely foolproof and it can get expensive.

5. Finally, trust your instincts. If someone makes you nervous with questions concerning your idea, back off. You don’t have to share information if you don’t feel comfortable.

Flogd is basically a flash-based tool that allows you to create shops stocked with your own products and put them anywhere

Flogd is basically a flash-based tool that allows you to create shops stocked with your own products and put them anywhere using the tried-and-true method of cut and paste. It’s sort of like Photobucket, Slide or RockYou, but for products you want to sell, rather than photos of random stuff. The shops include built-in shopping carts, and a buyer can safely and securely purchase anything from a seller's shop right then and there, rather than being redirected to another page- significantly reducing the rate of drop off, and potentially leading to increased sales and exposure.
Flogd’s main point of difference is their extreme usability, both for buyers and sellers. On the marketing end, it is simple for those wanting to sell their products to easily put their products on their blogs, websites and social networking communities, using their flash-based tool. For sellers, it’s less likely that they’ll abandon their shopping cart because transactions are not redirected to another page.

Ikordo is a meeting planning service

Ikordo is a meeting planning service that does all the heavy lifting for you.

Enter in the contact information of people you’d like to invite to your meeting, indicate which attendees are required to come, set the schedule parameters, and let ikordo go to work. The service will contact your attendee list via email to inform them of the meeting you’ve set up, and attendees can simply reply to the email in order to negotiate the perfect time slot that fits everyone’s schedule. Ikordo will keep negotiating with the contacts on your attendee list until a meeting time is agreed upon. The meeting organizer will get one of these emails as well, which may seem redundant at first, but is the best way for the organizer to stay abreast of how negotiations are progressing. Once the meeting time nears, ikordo will send out email and SMS reminders (if you’ve entered the mobile phone number of the attendees).

While the hands-off approach is great for meetings that need to be scheduled for a group of people, I wouldn’t recommend using this service to schedule a same-day meeting. The response time is a bit slow for negotiating meeting times. I’ve tried to trick the system by entering an incorrect date as an email reply to see how ikordo negotiations would handle this mistake, but have yet to get my response. Alternatively, attendees that also have an ikordo account will have an easier time scheduling with the organizer for meetings. Otherwise, this is a very handy service that can branch out in several directions, from iCal integration to address book management and task list delegation.

Bloglinker Is For Making Your Blog Ads Into Revenue Generators

What if you had advertising that your readers actually wanted to click on? That's exactly what they'll get when you use bloglinkr because all of the advertisers on bloglinkr are other blogs. You select the categories that you want your readers to see, and instead of content-less sales pitches and discounted products, your readers will see links to blogs in the categories you've selected ...and you'll get paid for each click. You'll even get paid when people click ads on blogs that you've referred to bloglinkr.
It looks better than other ad revenue generators like adsence, paypal etc because its concept is new and different. Its main driving factors is, it is suited for your readers and they bound or would drawn to click on linker.
Bloglinkr’s advertising model will appeal to bloggers who aren’t so sharp on ads yet still want to make an income. Rather than featuring meaningless product placements, bloggers need simply point to other blogs, something they probably already do anyways. You’re more likely to get a better income and even more traffic.

The Tech Buzz Game is like the stock market for technology

The Tech Buzz Game is like the stock market for technology. Tech geeks can purchase stock in technological products and services while speculating who will flop. The markets featured in the game reflect companies, products, etc. Keep tabs on game winners and losers and see what the future of technology has in store. Once you’ve registered you’ll get a handsome sum of $10,000 dollars (play money, that is) to begin. Predict how popular technologies will behave. Buzz or popularity is measured by Yahoo Search frequency over time. Winners will foresee trends and invest in technologies that are undervalued relative to their potential. Of course this is all play, but you can get an idea of the future of technologies and contribute to the wisdom of the crowds.

PlanHQ allows for easy online collaboration. In the start-up phase, this means partners can work on a plan together from anywhere they can get online. Later on, investors and other stakeholders can easily keep track of how the business is developing.

The online application takes what is often a static text document or spreadsheet, left for dead once banks have been convinced or investors wooed, and turns it into a tool that can be used well beyond the planning stage. Besides walking a user through the process of creating a business plan, PlanHQ lets entrepreneurs manage key business and financial information online, track finances and monitor timelines, comparing forecasts with actual performance. All in a friendly Web 2.0-style, reminiscent of online applications by 37signals.

New Zealand-based PlanHQ offers a free 30-day trial and premium plans are priced from USD 9 – 49 per month.

Unusual Business Idea Which Made Him Millionaire

Thirteen years ago, as an animal- control officer in Tampa, I started Animal Capture of Florida. It was a removal service, mostly trapping stray cats at apartment complexes. We didn't make much of a profit, so I increased margins by doing repairs-fixing holes raccoons made in the attic, etc. Five years ago we jumped at the chance to become the state-contracted alligator trapper for Hillsborough County. It looked like fun.

Our revenues come from a mix of gator and other animal removal and damage repair, and in a good month we'll gross up to $30,000. Revenue from catching gators depends entirely on the animal. The state contracts with one trapper for each county, and we make money by exhibiting or selling what we catch.

A processor will pay as much as $1,000 for a big gator. The hide and meat are used commercially, but if the meat's bad from an infection, it cuts the price. Sometimes a gator's in such bad shape from fighting that we can't sell it, and we lose money removing it-as state agents, we are required to respond to each call at no charge.

In the warmer months we'll show live nine- or ten-footers at company headquarters and charge a few bucks for admission.

Customers worry that when they call an alligator catcher, some smelly, sweaty guy in coveralls is going to track mud on the carpet. Impressions are important. We have five employees, and we all wear uniforms. We start with the simplest means of removal and work up, using lethal methods only if we have to. With a small gator -four to six feet-you've only got one chance to nab him, because he's fast. We get as close as we can, armed with a snatch hook attached to a big-game fishing line, and cast it with a heavy rod and reel. There's a tug-of-war before we get a second rope around him to tape his snout and legs. If we have our act together, my partner and I can rope one in two minutes.

Weight is an issue with the big guys. We have to tow them up the bank with a truck. I once caught and lost a 12-footer five times the same day. There's one alligator out there-a very elusive 12-foot bull. He lurks in a chain of lakes near a housing development. Someone will see him and call us, and we go running. By the time we get there, he's always gone. Someday we'll catch him.

"TouchGraph "Visual Search Engine

TouchGraph is one of those services that will surprise you its features the first time you try it. TouchGraph lets you navigate information returned from Google, Amazon, and Facebook in a visual format right on their site. Other services have integrated TouchGraph’s visual organization functionality as well.

Google
After logging in to the TouchGraph Google browser, you input a search term just like you would on Google. The site queries Google, and returns the information in a visual format. The site returns what looks to be a mindmap layout of the search results with logos for each site and lines between the results form interconnecting webs. You can scroll through the world of your search results and the site moves and flows with the cursor. Your results are organized into clusters which you can color code and organize in any way you like.

Facebook
You can log in to the TouchGraph platform directly through Facebook, and I must say this may be my favorite use of this technology. Your friends and your friends’ photos are automatically imported into TouchGraph and they are organized by location. It is a really interesting way to see your friends, and to see relationships between your friends. You can adjust spacing, zoom in and out, and you can view photos from your friends on different networks. Interestingly, you can also see which of your friends have the most photos together.

Amazon
An Amazon search on TouchGraph returns results from the sites large assortment of books, music, and movies. Similar to the Google functionality above, but returns Amazon specific items. You can add genre tags, sort by artist, album, or label and you can see the prices of the material you are looking at.

Clipperz is a new online password manager with a few tricks

About:
Clipperz is a new online password manager with a few tricks . Clippers not only manages your passwords like typical software password management solutions, it serves as a single sign-on solution for all of the different sites you visit.

Why It Could Works:
Creating an account requires no email confirmation, so right away Clipperz is off to a good start. After you create your account (they recommend a really strong password), you can begin storing your passwords. To sign up, visit http://beta.clipperz.com. Select the bookmarklet tab and you drag the button to the toolbar of your browser. After you visit the login page of your favorite sites, click the button from the toolbar, and you are given some code to take to Clipperz. This code is saved as a “direct login” and a new “Clipperz Card” is created. Now, when you log on to Clipperz, you have single click access to this web log in.

Clipperz also serves as a sort of bookmark repository, allowing you to choose from a long list of the sites you use that require logins and to have one click access to those sites. Additionally, you can store credit card information and address book information in Clipperz. As far as security, Clipperz encrypts your data locally through the browser before being uploaded, ensuring that Clipperz will not be able to recover your passwords or other sensitive information.

Web2.0 Marketing Toolset "Shoutlet

About:
Shoutlet users can create and share RSS feeds, HTML email newsletters, podcasts and SMS messages. Members can also create applets which allow you to distribute content via your own website.
Why It Could Works:
The difference between Shoutlet and the typical email marketing services is that Shoutlet leverages the power and popularity of newer Web 2.0 features instead of just email. Shoutlet tracks all sorts of data including who is reading your messages, which section of the messages are the most popular and how often podcasts are downloaded.
Shoutlet has a good set of features that could be beneficial for many small to medium sized businesses that have typically only contacted customers with email or paper newsletters. The site is clean and well organized. Right now, the site doesn’t offer any information about pricing and those who are interested have to call for a demo.

Sputter

Whats Different:
sputtr has web 2.0 , the main page is simple, attractive, and very useful. The search box is as others you would expect, but below the search box you will see many icons of services you can search with this site. All you have to do is type your search query into the box and hit the button below.
Its Function:
When you click the customize button near the top of the page, you are shown a dialog box which lists many other useful web tools you can search. These buttons can be added down below and the ones that were there before can be replaced. If you like Wikipedia, IMDB, DeviantArt and Yahoo but not Google you can simply remove it.

foldera.com

There's a problem with the productivity and collaboration tools you use - email, contact managers, calendars, task lists, and applications specific to the work you do. Powerful and feature-laden though they may be, their very capability presents a problem. The volumes of information you produce with these separate tools must all be organized, sorted, and filed - by you! If, like an ever-increasing number of people, you work both at home and from an office and use multiple PCs, the organizational struggle gets even more complicated. The smart phones and PDAs that were supposed to help us stay more organized only add to the confusion and complexity involved in keeping all your information current and accessible.

JangoMail By Ajay Goel Who Made 5 Millions With Just Four Empolyees

Ajay Goel, 29, was living with his parents in 2000 when he created the first version of JangoMail as a side project for a client who needed a web-based e-mail marketing solution. Because he had a computer and no overhead, Goel was able to fine-tune the product, then take it to market.

JangoMail, with its web-based e-mail broadcasting and marketing system that allows companies to create, send and track e-mail campaigns, projects sales of $5 million for 2007. While the four-person company works virtually, Goel invested in 900 square feet of office space in Dayton, Ohio, to give the company a home base and employees a place to work when they come to town.

JangoMail has grown mostly through referrals, networking and search engine advertising, landing clients like the American Cancer Society and Nokia. Instead of expanding through additional products or line extensions, JangoMail remains the company's sole offering, available through its website. Goel is constantly tinkering and adding features. "I wanted to operate with a salesperson-less model," he says. "We are there if customers need us, but they can buy the product on their own."

Ztail makes online sales listings for eBay and other sites.

Ztail makes online sales listings for eBay and other sites. You wish it what you're trying to unload, and it will format a nice listing with a picture of the product and its specifications. You set your own price, add text about the particular item's condition, hit publish, and you're done.

Ztail lets you improve your odds of selling it by optionally multi-listing an item on the "Ztail network" of non-eBay sites: Google Base, Edgeio, Vast, and Oodle, for starters. You can also embed a widget on your own blog or put a link (but not a widget) on your Facebook page to sell your items.

The service is free to use, and the company will make money from affiliate traffic driven to eBay from the widgets users post on their sites.

Expensr is Web-based finance tracking site

Expensr is Web-based finance tracking site. Like other sites this one lets you enter in your income and expenses, and then gives you data about your money.

Expensr lets you compare your financial picture to other people who are like you, based on tags. first tag yourself "married," "India," and "hedge fund manager Then you can see how much other married hedge fund manager are spending on rent, and if you're living at a level above or below your peers. Or you can look up data for other tags, to see, for instance, what engineers in Houston are making. You do have to trust that other users are as rigorous with their Expensr data entry as you are: If you reliably enter in all your dining out expenses, but other users tagged the same as you are do not, then you might think that you're overspending when you're just being more compulsive about your bookkeeping than everyone else. (I couldn't use this feature because none of the tags I tried had enough users to generate statistical data.)

The service has several features that are standard for online financial applications. It's easy and simple to create accounts, enter transactions, and see graphs and charts of where your money is going.

Expensr is easy to use -- much easier than the default financial app for most people, Quicken (the 2007 version of which I found intolerably buggy). While Quicken also offers tracking, as well as nice charts and graphs, getting basic data and analysis out of Expensr is much faster than getting it from Quicken. And if you only have a few accounts, getting data in can be almost as fast, since Expensr reads OFX files from banks (Quicken can automate downloads, though, which is a plus).

What Expensr has going for it is simplicity, speed, ease of use, and cost. It's free. It looks like a solid solution for a young adult's simple finances.

Adap.tv is an online video advertising platform that looks at the context of a video to place advertisements

Adap.tv is an online video advertising platform that looks at the context of a video to place advertisements. Almost like Google's contextual AdSense program, Adapt.tv reads a video's metadata to figure out what the video is about before serving up an ad that (hopefully) is related. Ads pop up in a small transparent bar on the bottom of a video while it's playing.

Make Millions With Retro Cards

As owners of MikWright Ltd., a Charlotte, North Carolina-based greeting card company, Tim Mikkelsen, 45, and Phyllis Wright-Herman, 44, employ a group of friends and neighbors to glue old family photos to off-size greeting cards. The duo then writes humorous, snarky captions for the 1950s, '60s and '70s-era pictures. Sounds like a simple, old-fashioned kind of operation, right? Well, it is, except for the fact that the company sells its products in more than 10,000 retail locations around the world and generated sales of $1.3 million last year. Despite the fact that they could easily afford to mass-produce their products, the owners feel it's important to keep the same production methods they've used since launching the company in 1992. "There's not a machine that can guarantee the quality control that a human can," says Mikkelsen. "We're not looking to be this huge conglomerate. It would change who we are and what we do.
