Ping.fm, a social media application has received an undisclosed amount of angel funding
Ping.fm, a social media application that lets users cross-post messages to multiple sites has received an undisclosed amount of angel funding. Creative Commons CEO Joi Ito and LinkedIn founder and CEO Reid Hoffman are behind the investment (via RWW). Ping.fm launched in March and grew to include more than 30 networks (including Facebook, Twitter, WordPress blogs and Delicious) but it had been plagued with service issues and system overloads as it scales.

MAP Research's results show that by the end of 2008, the overall industry will have a market value of $3.6 billion (all figures in $US), forecast to increase to $5.3 billion by 2011.
According to the report, whilst the overall market size of the global domain industry is expected to increase over the next three years, growth will be at a slower rate than previous years and a drop in average revenue per domain is forecast.
And although growth in global top-level domains (ie .com and .net) will slow, growth in country code top-level domains (ie .au and .uk) is expected to increase in developing countries such as Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC nations).
The research also predicts trends in the domain industry such as consolidation to gain market share; a growing emphasis on bundling services; growth in demand for 'domain parking'; growth of mobile internet and .mobi; and a new internet provider platform, IPv6, dramatically increasing the number of available domain names.
``Domain registrars are now becoming 'one-stop-shop' service providers, offering their customers variety of services such as domain registration, domain management, web hosting and domain resale,'' said Marco Marcou, MAP Research Director.
``With the contractions of the top-level market, many of the global domain registrars are diversifying their revenue base by providing a number of related value added services to the provision of domain registration,'' he added.

Run Country As Running Corporate Business..
Let us run it like a big corporate business with all ministries as departments and citizens as its customers. Yes, the citizens would be customers to this business, they would be consumers of goods, products and services offered by this corporate and they will pay us in form of tax.
As a CEO of this corporate, I would treat each task a project and the ministers would be appointed as project managers, it will project manager’s duty to come up with deliverables, schedule and cost this project. I must add here for all projects there must be a stakeholder who are subject matter experts and are chosen from normal citizens. The project manager has to run the project within given resources, which he agreed upon in the beginning and deliver it within schedule with exact deliverables. If any of the said criterions does not match the project is a failure and so is the project manager.
Just like a corporate has different departments, security, maintenance, finance, research and development, marketing, HR, etc, I would have all of them and they all work in tandem with a common goal, goal of making this business no 1. All of us working for this business has to remember that we here because of our customers, the citizens of this country.
Also I would make sure that my customers also respect their rights and they behave within prescribed limits as guarded by our constitution. I would grade my customers on basis of their performance and ethical behavior, if they behave good, they will get good and vice versa, which is more important. If my customers are unhappy about the road conditions then they have to follow traffic rules before they complain.

Customer Engagement is built on simple human behaviour. It seems illogical that so many companies claim to have captured it in complex systems. Agreed, human behaviour does have its complex side ' often it shows it ' but at the level that counts it is simple. The preferred form of complex system that has been widely sold, only to disappoint, is CRM.
If ever there were a misnomer it is "Customer Relationship Management
System". As my colleague David Butler, a true doyen of the IT industry, has pointed out CRM is simply customer record management. Like all record management tools
it cannot aspire to be predictive in a meaningful way. If you plan on the basis of CRM you are in real danger of steering the ship while looking backwards at the wake.
If that were all it would be unfortunate that so many have invested so much with so little return. Sadly that is not all. Many of the vendors that tempt firms into investment in systems solutions go one huge step too far. They are actually saying to you "You are not up to running your business effectively in today's environment. Hand it over to us and we will run it for you - at a cost", (normally a huge cost). But Customer Engagement is a very human interaction. To pretend that a technological system can replace humanity is frankly ludicrous.
A conversation and more
Current marketing philosophy is at last becoming enlightened. It holds that marketing can no longer be a one-way street. It is a human conversation between real people in which desires, needs and feelings - particularly feelings - can be fully expressed and satisfied.
