Boxxet endeavors to rein in the best web content using a combination of algorithms and community interaction.

Boxxet endeavors to rein in the best web content using a combination of algorithms and community interaction. Users are able to compile info-- photos, videos and text into a sort of greatest hits page or box set. You pick the topic, say Keira Knightly or iPods, and then you and other Boxxnet members select the top 25 news items and related sites. Here's where the automation comes in: Boxxnet uses Yahoo's search engine to find relevant articles which are then ranked; users can consequently give their own ratings and the system will respond in kind, putting emphasis on top user rated content while eliminating low rated sites. Each box also contains recommendations of related content and lists the top contributors. You'll find bookmarks submitted by users which feature relevant news stories or blog links as well as media. Essentially, each box is meant to be a fairly comprehensive best of compilation to be honed by community members.

"Boxxet (pronounced "box set") brings together the "best of" news, blogs, videos, photos, gear and much more on your favorite subjects. For the things you care about (teams, hobbies, interests, schools, towns, etc), Boxxet's unique combination of computer automation and community participation produces the most diverse and complete best-of compilations."
