Media companies are launching "vertical ad networks"

Looking to snare a larger share of Internet ad dollars, traditional media companies are launching "vertical ad networks" in which they sell ad bundles of space on their sites and on independent sites with complementary content.

Forbes.com's Business and Finance Blog Network, announced last week, includes more than 450 finance-focused blogs, such as Talking Biz News and Xconomy. Forbes will sell ad space across that network, earning a cut of the revenue from the sites.

It hopes to attract advertisers by featuring blogs that have been prescreened for "credible" content, says Forbes.com CEO Jim Spanfeller.

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia has put together an ad network — known as Martha's Circle — that's made up of 25 lifestyle-focused sites such as FriendsEat.com and Christmas-Cookies.com.

Ad space on the partner site typically is sold in packages with space on MarthaStewart.com and MSO's company-owned sites and blogs, which also include The Martha Blog and The Bride's Guide. Advertisers can create their own specialized bundle as well with a la carte site selection.

Delaycast----Find Flight Delay Predictions

What Company Is Offering:
Delaycast was established to provide information about possible difficulties in flight itineraries and to give travelers realistic expectations about their travel plans. Its goal is to help flyers avoid delays, missed connections, and unintended stayovers.

How It Works:

When travelers consider future air travel, Delaycast.com provides them with reasonable estimates of the delays they may experience based on factors such as airline, origin, destination, and date and time of day. These estimates are based on predictive modeling technologies that model historical patterns in flight delays and project them into the future.

Unique Features:

1. Delay Profiles provide broad overviews of the best days, times, and airlines to fly, based on selected airports.

2. Delay Predictions provide information about delays and cancellations for specific airports, airlines, dates and times.

All predictions and profiles are produced by the models, and as such, are never 100% accurate. Nevertheless, the insight provided beyond the airlines schedules will help most traveler avoid troubles.

Indeed, the most comprehensive search engine for jobs, announced the launch of Job Search by Salary

What Company Is Offering:
Indeed, the most comprehensive search engine for jobs, pioneered a radically improved approach to job search. Indeed has given job seekers free access - instantly, in a single search - to millions of jobs from thousands of company websites, job boards, newspapers, blogs and associations. Indeed makes it easy for job seekers to drill down by keyword, location - and now salary - to find exactly the right jobs. With millions of job seekers and over a hundred million job searches per month, Indeed is by far the leading vertical search engine for jobs. Indeed was selected by Time magazine as one of the Top 10 Websites in 2007 and by PC World as one of the Best 50 Websites. Indeed won a 2008 Weddle’s Users’ Choice Award and was named the Best Job Search Engine by Job-hunt.org.

Recent Updates:
Indeed, the most comprehensive search engine for jobs, announced today the launch of Job Search by Salary. This unique feature enables job seekers to find all jobs meeting their salary needs - even when salaries are not advertised by employers. The vast majority of job listings don't include salaries, so Indeed estimates the salaries of millions of such jobs. Job seekers have never been able to search all jobs by salary until now.

Indeed's proprietary methodology to estimate salaries is based on an analysis of similar job listings that include salaries. Indeed extracts salaries from all job listings containing this information - about a fifth of the total – and then estimates salaries for the rest. When actual salaries are advertised, they are shown in the search results.

Job seekers can enter any annual salary into the search box on Indeed, returning all jobs estimated to pay at least that much. They can also set up an email job alert to be notified when jobs matching their salary requirements are found. A job seeker looking for a marketing management position paying over $60,000 per year, for example, can search 'Marketing Manager $60k' which returns over seventy thousand jobs nationwide.
