What Is Company Offering:
3Di company based in Japan, offers a browser-based alternative to experiencing Second Life, called Movable Life. It does run the official Second Life client, and gives you the option of enjoying your Second Life account without the 3D imaging.
How It Works:
You can log in with your existing Second Life username and password and then teleport, chat with friends, create groups, track your inventory, and search for other regions to check out. One of the best options for Movable Life is the fact that you can not only still interact with your virtual friends, but also conduct transactions with your Linden dollars.
3Di does not retain any of your Second Life account information. You’ll appreciate this most if you’re an avid Second Life user and already have a significant presence in the virtual world. This slimmed-down version of Second Life doesn’t require any downloads and still manages to pack a good amount of punch into its application. EA Games launched a similar, browser-based option for Sims through Yahoo Games called Life Stories. In other news, Turner Broadcasting has just partnered with Kaneva for a virtual project.
