TradeVibes, is a new startup looking to create a database of information about private companies

What Company Is Offering:
TradeVibes, is a new startup looking to create a database of information about private companies. While the company indexes its fair share of the Web 2.0-type startups it also aims to include information about many other areas of technology – such as biotech, alternative energy, and semi-conductors.

How It Works:

TradeVibes takes a community approach to indexing and organizing company information. You can add companies and edit information about those already listed on the site. You can do the same thing with company executive profiles. For example, in the following profile of AdBrite, you can see background information on the company, its management team, competitors, and related companies. On the right, TradeVibes has built in additional features so you can vote whether you are “bullish” or “bearish” on the company (do you think its prospects are good or bad), and see that its Alexa rank has slipped recently. You can also see recent news and blogs about it.

Beyond company information, there are social news features, discussion areas, job boards, and an activity stream to see the most recent additions and changes to the site.
The company has seeded in profiles for hundreds of well-known companies, but for it to really become a valuable tool for those searching for corporate information, it’s going to rely on users submitting information for the thousands of smaller startups in the tech space.
The company is founded by four former PayPal employees, angel funded by Ron Conway, and Steve Chen of YouTube fame is on the company’s board of advisors.
