Locify is open - enables anybody to create location aware services for anyone

What Company Is Offering:
Locify is free application for common mobile phone. It can use phone's internal GPS or connected bluetooth GPS or it is fairly usable even without GPS at all.

And Locify is open - enables anybody to create location aware services for anyone. It is as easy as creating web pages.

How It Works:

Locify client is standard Java application for mobile phones (J2ME). These applications are distributed in Java Archive files (jar extension). One single archive contains the whole application and is binary. However, there is also Java Archive Descriptor (.jad) file, which is not needed for installation, but can be used to enhance user experience. Locify's jad file contains digital signature, allowing users to install Locify as trusted application and can be used as source of preinstalled services.

A preinstalled service or "link" is basically shortcut to installation. It has special icon and when you activate it, Locify downloads welcome message located on URL at which this shortcut is pointing. If you decide to confirm installation of specified service, installation link is replaced by standard service icon.
